Personal Development and Wellness

Background:
A professional sought coaching after experiencing ongoing anxiety due to inconsistent workflows and a lack of long-term strategy. The client spent their entire workday on paid projects, leaving no time for business development or strategic planning. This resulted in an unpredictable "stop-start" cycle, where periods of intense work were followed by dry spells with no new clients. The client also struggled with direction, constantly shifting goals and priorities without a clear strategy, which affected their personal health and well-being.

Challenges:
The client’s main challenge was prioritising the wrong tasks—focusing solely on paid work without dedicating time to business development, leading to uncertainty during slow periods. Without a clear definition of success or a strategic plan, their goals were constantly changing, adding to their sense of confusion. The irregular workflow created anxiety, and the lack of structure had a detrimental impact on their health, as they weren’t making time for personal well-being or self-care.

Coaching Approach:
Coaching focused on creating a structured approach to both personal and professional development. We helped the client clarify what success looked like for them, and set both long-term and short-term goals to provide direction. A key part of the process was developing a strategy for maintaining a steady pipeline of work, ensuring consistent business development alongside paid work. The sessions also addressed lifestyle changes, emphasising the importance of personal health and work-life balance.

Key Strategies Included:

  • Introducing “Focus Friday”: To break the cycle of stop-start work, we implemented "Focus Friday," a day each week dedicated solely to working on the business rather than in it. This time was used for strategic planning, business development, and evaluating goals, ensuring that the client had a continuous pipeline of future work and clear direction for growth.

  • Health and Lifestyle Shift: Recognising the toll that the inconsistency and anxiety had on their health, we integrated personal development into the coaching plan. The client committed to regular gym sessions, a healthier lifestyle, and taking time for personal well-being. This helped to manage stress and gave them more energy to focus on long-term goals.

Outcome:
Within a few months, the client experienced a significant improvement in both their business and personal life. "Focus Friday" allowed them to consistently work on business development, creating a smoother workflow with less anxiety during quiet periods. With a clearer definition of success and regular goal-setting, they became more strategic in their approach to growth. The improved lifestyle changes also enhanced their mental and physical health, leading to greater productivity and work-life balance. The client now enjoys a more consistent flow of business, less stress, and a healthier approach to both work and life.
